About
Tara Shute, M.A., M.A., R.P. – Registered Psychotherapist
I am a Registered Psychotherapist based in Collingwood with over 20 years of experience. My background includes work in public funded environments that taught me, about resilience, the toughness of life, people’s capacity to grow and the importance of clear, honest communication. Because I’ve been in this field for two decades, I don’t rely on clinical jargon or “one-size-fits-all” approaches. I offer a space that is grounded, perceptive, and focused on what actually works for you.
Treatment Approach

These are psychotherapy modalities I am trained in:
Brief Solution Focused Therapy – how to get momentum now.
Narrative Therapy – how to find your resiliency.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) – how to think about the problem, problem solving.
DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) – how to build skills that deal with distress.
Motivational Interviewing – how to get change happening.
Somatic Therapy – how to get moving if trauma has you stuck.
“To see clearly, we must first be willing to let go of the way we want things to be. The discovery of truth is always the death of an illusion.
